Ohio State Buckeyes to Visit White House on April 14 After National Championship Victory
Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day announced today that the team will visit the White House on April 14 to be honored for their 2024-25 College Football Playoff National Championship win. The Buckeyes clinched their first national title since 2014 with a 34-23 victory over Notre Dame in the championship game.
The White House visit will take place shortly after the conclusion of Ohio State’s spring football practices, which began on March 17 and will culminate with the annual Spring Game on April 12 at Ohio Stadium.
A Championship Season to Remember
The Buckeyes’ national championship victory was a defining moment for the program, solidifying Ohio State’s return to the pinnacle of college football. Led by quarterback Devin Brown and a dominant defensive unit, Ohio State overcame a tough Notre Dame squad in the title game, capping off an impressive 14-1 season.
Coach Day, who has been at the helm since 2019, emphasized the significance of the moment for the players, staff, and fans.
“Winning a national championship is an incredible achievement, and getting the opportunity to visit the White House is a special honor for our program,” Day said in a statement. “I’m incredibly proud of our team and the way they represented Ohio State on and off the field this season.”
A Tradition of Champions at the White House
The Buckeyes’ visit continues a long-standing tradition of national championship teams being invited to Washington, D.C., to meet with the President. Ohio State last visited the White House in 2015, following their 2014 championship win under former head coach Urban Meyer.
During their upcoming trip, the Buckeyes are expected to participate in a ceremony recognizing their achievement, meet with government officials, and tour the White House.
Looking Ahead to 2025
While the championship celebration is still in full swing, the Buckeyes are already preparing for the 2025 season. With key departures to the NFL Draft, including star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State is focusing on player development and roster adjustments during spring practices.
The annual Spring Game on April 12 will give fans their first look at the team’s new talent and potential starting lineups for the upcoming season. Following the White House visit, Ohio State will continue offseason training in preparation for their season opener in late August.
For now, the Buckeye faithful can celebrate another championship moment as their team receives national recognition in Washington, D.C. on April
