Mikel Arteta has been worried over Bukayo Saka’s serious injury of the young player’s Achilles issue from last season was still bothering him.
The Hale End academy graduate, who scored 14 goals and contributed 11 assists in the Premier League last season, has made a name for himself as one of the top right wingers in Europe in recent years. Even though he is only 22 years old, he is a key member of both the England national team and the Arsenal.
Saka’s inclusion on the bench for Tuesday night’s friendly against Scotland was therefore a little surprising, but nonetheless it is claimed that his omission was down to an Achilles issue. The Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate previously revealed the issue back in June following the youngster’s unforgettable hattrick against North Macedonia.
After the game, Southgate commented on Saka’s goals, saying: “We weren’t surprised by the first one, that’s how he’s been all week, but we hadn’t seen the second one coming. I’m happy for him.
