Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his sympathy to Chelsea fans after Ben Chilwell was booed by the travelling crowd. The defender went to applaud the away fans after the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
As Chilwell approached the concourse, he was met with a chorus of boos and quickly held his hands up to apologise for the performance. Various expletives were shouted at the left-back by the furious Chelsea supporters and he eventually turned around back towards the tunnel.
In the post-match press conference, Pochettino was asked if he understood why the fans were upset. The 51-year-old replied: “Because of expectation. No will think the fans know if you invest the type of money people create in the media.
