Chelsea have been linked with a lot of strikers this summer, with the manager still keeping an eye on a more prolific goal scorer who could salvage his attacking prowess next season.

 

According to Football London, Chelsea have agreed to pay whatever Napoli would require in order to bring in Osimhen before the weekend.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte is keen to link up again with Lukaku, who played under him at Inter Milan. The striker is currently training with Chelsea’s reserves while waiting for his future to be resolved.

 

The Blues are desperate to get his £325,000-a-week wages off their books but have been holding out for a £37 million offer—a figure that will have been used to drive down the fee in the Osimhen negotiations. Lukaku’s impending departure isn’t a surprise, but that isn’t the case for his fellow potential makeweight, Casadei.

 

The young Italian, 21, was one of the first names through the door at the start of the Todd Boehly era and was tipped to make a big impact at Stamford Bridge. He shone in Inter Milan’s academy for several years and was once tipped by Maurizio Viscidi as having the potential to be ‘better than Nicolo Barella’ but hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in England, whether through sporadic appearances for Chelsea or during loan spells in the Championship.

 

The Nigerian ace reportedly signed a bumper £211,000-a-week contract in December last year and is reluctant to reduce his salary. Chelsea, however, have a wage structure to consider, with just three of their current stars (Lukaku, Reece James, and Raheem Sterling) earning over the £200,000-a-week mark.

 

All of those deals were agreed upon prior to the club’s wage structure change, which happened in late 2022. As such, the Blues will be forced to make an exception for Osimhen if the former Lille man refuses to take a pay cut.

 

Should the deal go through, however, it’ll take Chelsea’s summer spending over the £200 million mark. It will also mean that under Boehly, the two-time Champions League winners will have spent a staggering £1.13 billion on players in just over two years.

 

That said, PSG and Arsenal are also monitoring the situation and could still rival Chelsea for Osimhen’s signature.
