BREAKING NEWS : The 10 players leaving Liverpool today as Arne Slot begins summer transfer plan

Liverpool will be looking to complete transfers this summer after losing the services of several squad members

Liverpool will today say goodbye to ten players who have reached the end of their time at the club.

 

As is common practice across the English top flight, contacts typically expire on June 30. As we have now reached this date, the Reds will officially bid farewell to a number of individuals previously in their ranks.

 

At first-team level, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are free agents as of today are not seeing their contracts renewed. Both players have endured their fair share of injury problems during their time on Merseyside, which is likely to have influenced this decision over their future.

 

Another player whose deal is up as of today is Adrian, who received an offer of a new deal. It remains unclear at this stage what will happen next with the Spaniard, who has reportedly agreed a return to his boyhood club Real Betis. This is not confirmed, however, and the 37-year-old could yet remain at Anfield.

Heading for the exit door at Academy level are Adam Lewis, Melkamu Frauendorf and Mateusz Musialowski, each of whom have represented the club at senior level. Lewis made his first-team debut in an FA Cup replay with Shrewsbury Town in February 2020 but has spent the last four seasons out on loan; Frauendorf’s maiden start also arrived against Shrewsbury, though in January 2022, while Musialowski had to wait until March of this year for his opportunity after being deployed from the bench in a Europa League win over Sparta Prague.

 

Fellow Academy players Nathan Giblin, Francis Gyimah, Luke Hewitson, Niall Osborne and Cody Pennington will also begin new chapters in their careers from today onwards after the club decided against extending terms with the youngsters.

 

As was the case with Adrian, goalkeepers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman have been presented the opportunity to continue their journey with the club but there has been no development in respect of whether the duo have committed to this option.
