Despite enjoying dominance in possession, pass accuracy, and shots on target, Liverpool failed to capitalize on their opportunities, ultimately succumbing to a solitary goal from Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze at Anfield.

The match saw both sides trading chances, with Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson making crucial saves to deny Liverpool’s attacking threats. However, Salah, who has been a key figure for Liverpool in recent seasons, struggled to make an impact, leading to criticism from Carragher and fans alike.

Carragher highlighted Salah’s lackluster form in recent weeks, pointing out that the Egyptian star has been “not at the races” since his return from injury suffered at AFCON 2024. The Reds statistically had better possession (70%), pass accuracy (83%–68%), and more shots on target (6–5) in the match but still couldn’t find the back of the net.
