BREAKING NEWS: ” I have made bad decisions  in the past that have affected so many people and my last game was not an exception” Arne Slot  Emotional  and heartfelt  Statement as he reassured fans to do better.

Arne Slot couldn’t have wished for a better start as Liverpool manager, with his side heading into September’s international break with a 100% record. Having undertaken the unenviable task of succeeding Jürgen Klopp in the Anfield hot seat, the former Feyenoord boss started with a pair of 2-0 wins over newly promoted Ipswich and Brentford at home before going to Old Trafford and running out 3-0 winners. He subsequently became the first Liverpool manager to win his first meeting with United since Bob Paisley in November 1975, and just the second to do so away from home after George Kay in November 1936. Meanwhile, Liverpool won their opening three Premier League games without conceding for the first time since 2018-19, when they finished as runners-up to Manchester City on 97 points.

Bournemouth, entering their second campaign with Andoni Iraola at the helm, began tentatively with back-to-back 1-1 draws against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle, though the Cherries felt hard done by in the latter with a late Dango Ouattara goal controversially disallowed. However, they put that result behind them with an incredible comeback win on their most recent visit to Merseyside when Everton was beating them by 2+ goals until the 87th minute before striking three unanswered goals, including two in stoppage time—something they’ve never done before in Premier League history. It proved to be the latest time a team has ever been two or more goals ahead in a game they’ve gone on to lose in Premier League history.

Liverpool host Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday 21st September at 3pm.

Liverpool team news

Curtis Jones may come back after a minor injury, while there’s uncertainty over Harvey Elliott’s involvement following his recent withdrawal from England under-21 duty due to an unspecified issue.

Bournemouth team news

David Brooks (shoulder) and Enes Unal (toe) have recently returned to training after long lay-offs. This leaves only Tyler Adams (back) on the long-term injury list. However, there has been no update on Philip Billing, who missed two games due to a back issue.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth head-to-head

Bournemouth have lost on their last five visits to Anfield, with an aggregate score of 20-2.

Liverpool faced a surprising defeat against Nottingham Forest at Anfield, ending what had been a flawless start to the season under new manager Arne Slot. The Reds had won their first three games without conceding a goal, but a stunning 72nd-minute winner from Forest’s Callum Hudson-Odoi marked Liverpool’s first goal conceded this season and left their fans in shock.

Alisson Becker, Liverpool’s goalkeeper, expressed his frustration after the game, criticizing his teammates for their performance. In an interview with *Sky Sports*, he attributed the loss to ineffective substitutions and poor defensive play, particularly pointing out Hudson-Odoi’s freedom to score.

The defeat highlighted vulnerabilities in Liverpool’s squad and brought an abrupt halt to their momentum. It also served as a wake-up call for Slot, reminding him of the Premier League’s competitive nature. Nottingham Forest’s victory, their first at Anfield since 1969, showcased the tactical prowess of manager Nuno Espirito Santo. His well-timed substitutions, including Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga, were crucial to the win.

Liverpool now faces a crucial period with upcoming Premier League and Champions League matches. Slot will need to address the issues exposed and manage his squad effectively to regain their winning form. Despite the setback, Liverpool has shown strong early-season form and will look to bounce back with key players like Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah leading the charge. The loss to Forest underscores the need for focus and consistency in a highly unpredictable lThe Key Match Incidents panel (KMI) has deemed the on-field decision to award Trent Alexander-Arnold’s goal in the Liverpool game against Manchester United at Old Trafford to be incorrect.

The Liverpool right-back thought he had opened the scoring seven minutes into the game against Man United after referee Anthony Taylor awarded the goal.

However, VAR rightly ruled it off as Reds forward Mohamed Salah had been offside in the build-up.

The KMI has ruled that the video assistant referee (VAR) was right to intervene and chalk off the goal for Liverpool, also ruling that the on-field decision from Taylor was incorrect.

It was the only on-pitch decision ruled to have been incorrect out of the 23 incidents that were looked into after the third round of Premier League fixtures in 2024-25.

The independent panel consists of three former players or coaches, one Premier League representative and one representative from the referees’ body (Professional Game Match Officials Board).

The Premier League panel will continue to look into incidents after every matchday in the English top-flight, and their decisions should help improve the officiating going forward.

Liverpool went on to secure a 3-0 victory against Man United despite having Alexander-Arnold’s goal ruled out, with Luis Diaz grabbing a first-half brace.

Salah added the third goal 11 minutes into the second-half, with the visitors completely blowing the Red Devils out of the water.

Joint league leaders Liverpool resume Premier League action on Saturday when they host Nottingham Forest before starting their Champions League campaign against AC Milan at San Siro three days later.

Meanwhile, Man United travel to face newly-promoted Southampton on Saturday before hosting Barnsley in the third-round of the Carabao Cup next Tuesday.
