Rumors!! Steelers Safety DeShon Elliott Rejects Idea of Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh…

Steelers Safety DeShon Elliott Rejects Idea of Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh                                                      The Pittsburgh Steelers have been widely rumored to be in the mix for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason. However, at least one player on their roster isn’t thrilled about the idea.

Steelers safety DeShon Elliott made his stance clear in a now-deleted Instagram comment under a post from @JPAFootball, an NFL aggregator account, which reported that Pittsburgh is currently the betting favorite to land Rodgers. Elliott wasted no time voicing his disapproval, writing: “Leave him at the retirement home.”

The comment quickly gained traction among fans and analysts, with many debating whether Elliott was speaking for himself or echoing the sentiments of others within the Steelers locker room.

Rodgers’ Future and the Steelers’ Quarterback Situation

Rodgers, 41, is coming off a lost season after tearing his Achilles just four plays into his New York Jets debut in 2023. While he has vowed to return in 2025, his future with the Jets remains uncertain. Reports suggest New York may be ready to move on, which has opened speculation about potential landing spots.

The Steelers, meanwhile, face their own quarterback questions. Russell Wilson, who took over as the starter last season, is reportedly on his way out, and Justin Fields, his backup, is a free agent. With Pittsburgh lacking a clear answer at QB, rumors about a potential Rodgers-Steelers connection have intensified.

Locker Room Fit: A Concern?

Elliott’s comment raises questions about how well Rodgers would fit into Pittsburgh’s culture. The Steelers have long been known for their tough, no-nonsense approach, and Rodgers—who has often made headlines for his outspoken personality and off-field interests—might not align with that mentality.

This is not the first time a Steelers player has openly expressed skepticism about a potential move. Last season, reports surfaced that some players were hesitant about the team’s quarterback plans. Now, Elliott’s comment suggests at least some level of resistance within the locker room.

Will Pittsburgh Actually Pursue Rodgers?

While the Steelers may be betting favorites to land Rodgers, that does not necessarily mean they are aggressively pursuing him. Head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan have yet to publicly comment on the situation, and Pittsburgh could still opt for a younger quarterback rather than an aging veteran.

However, if Rodgers does end up in black and gold, his first order of business may be winning over the locker room—starting with DeShon Elliott.

What do you think? Would Rodgers be a good fit for the Steelers, or should Pittsburgh look elsewhere for their next quarterback?
