Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback suffers serious knee injury….

Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Artie Burns suffered a potentially serious injury at today’s practice at Miami Dolphins training camp.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there is a concern that Burns suffered a torn ACL during practice, which would likely end his season. The team still wants an MRI and second opinion to confirm the injury, but Burns is on crutches.

The Dolphins have a wide-open cornerback room, and Burns, who returned home to Miami to play for the Dolphins, had a chance to crack the rotation with the current depth chart.

Burns has played for the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks throughout his NFL career, primarily as a special teamer.

Burns is in his tenth season in the NFL, a mark only reached by five percent of NFL players in their career. He started off with the Steelers as a bust who was out in just four seasons, but has carved out a career for himself. Throughout his NFL career, he primarily served as a gunner and contributor to kick coverage.

Burns, the 2016 first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Miami (FL), spent four seasons with the team before Pittsburgh turned down his fifth-year option and let him walk in free agency. He has just four interceptions throughout his career, while racking up 195 total tackles. He spent the last three seasons with the Seahawks, primarily as a special teamer and scout team cornerback.
