South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris terminated his contract after encountering a serious issue with…

As of March 25, 2025, there are no credible reports indicating that Lamont Paris, head coach of the University of South Carolina men’s basketball team, has terminated his contract due to any serious issues. On the contrary, in March 2024, Coach Paris agreed to a six-year contract extension with South Carolina, extending his tenure through the 2029-30 season with an average annual salary exceeding $4 million.

Coach Paris has been instrumental in revitalizing the Gamecocks’ basketball program. Under his leadership, the team achieved a remarkable turnaround, improving from an 11-21 record in the 2022-23 season to a 25-6 record in the 2023-24 season. This success earned him the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year award.

While there were reports in February 2025 suggesting that Coach Paris declined a contract renewal offer, citing a desire for a significant increase in salary and bonuses , these claims have not been substantiated by major news outlets. Therefore, without credible evidence, it is reasonable to conclude that Coach Paris continues to serve as the head coach of the South Carolina men’s basketball team.
