Breaking News: Kentucky’s Jaxson Robinson Undergoes “Perfect” Wrist Surgery, Out for Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky Wildcats graduate guard Jaxson Robinson has successfully undergone surgery on his right wrist, the team announced Wednesday. Described as a “perfect” procedure by medical staff, the surgery ensures a full recovery, but Robinson will miss the remainder of the season as he rehabilitates.

A Tough Blow for Kentucky

Robinson, a key player for the Wildcats and one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award, had been a vital part of Kentucky’s success this season. Averaging 14.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, his impact was undeniable, especially as a 42% three-point shooter and a strong defensive presence.

The wrist injury, suffered in late February, initially left some hope for a return, but after further evaluation, surgery became the best course of action. Despite the setback, Robinson remains committed to supporting his team through their postseason run.

Robinson’s Statement and Team Reaction

While the injury ends his season prematurely, Robinson remains optimistic.

“This isn’t how I wanted my season to end, but I’m grateful for my time at Kentucky,” Robinson said. “I’ll be there for my brothers every step of the way, helping in any way I can.”

Head coach John Calipari praised Robinson’s leadership and contributions, emphasizing that his presence on the sidelines will still be valuable.

“Jaxson has been a tremendous part of this team, and while we’ll miss his presence on the floor, he’s still going to be a leader for us as we head into the most important part of the season,” Calipari said.

What’s Next for Kentucky?

The No. 19-ranked Wildcats (20-10, 9-8 SEC) will have to adjust quickly as they prepare for the regular-season finale against No. 15 Missouri on March 8 and the upcoming SEC Tournament.

Without Robinson, Otega Oweh, Reed Sheppard, and Adou Thiero are expected to see expanded roles as Kentucky aims to make a deep NCAA Tournament run.

Robinson’s Future

Though his college career may be over, Robinson’s future remains bright. The sharpshooting wing is expected to draw interest from NBA scouts, with some analysts projecting him as a second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

For now, Robinson’s focus is on recovery, but his impact on Kentucky’s season won’t be forgotten.
