Exclusive: NFL GM Praises South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers as a Future Star
As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is quickly rising up draft boards. In an exclusive interview, an NFL general manager spoke glowingly about Sellers, calling him “one of the most intriguing quarterback prospects in this year’s class.”
A Star in the Making
Sellers, a dual-threat quarterback with elite athleticism and a powerful arm, turned heads during his time at South Carolina. Despite limited starting experience, his performances showcased an exceptional ability to extend plays, make tight-window throws, and lead his team with poise.
“You look at what he brings to the table—size, speed, a strong arm, and great decision-making. He’s got all the raw tools to be a franchise quarterback,” the GM said. “The way he commands the huddle and processes defenses is what really stands out.”
A Breakout College Season
Sellers took over the starting role for the Gamecocks in 2024 and made an immediate impact. He threw for over 3,200 yards and 28 touchdowns while adding another 800 yards on the ground. His ability to operate both inside and outside the pocket made him a nightmare for opposing defenses.
His standout performance came in a thrilling upset win over Georgia, where he threw for 350 yards, rushed for 75 more, and accounted for four total touchdowns. That game solidified his status as a rising star and caught the attention of NFL scouts.
Draft Stock on the Rise
While early mock drafts projected Sellers as a mid-round pick, his stock has soared following a strong showing at the Senior Bowl and private workouts. Some teams now view him as a potential first-round selection.
“He’s the type of quarterback that modern offenses are built around,” the GM continued. “If he lands in the right system with a coach who can maximize his skill set, he could be a star in this league.”
With the NFL Scouting Combine approaching, all eyes will be on Sellers as he looks to impress scouts, GMs, and coaches with his arm strength, mobility, and football IQ. If he continues to shine through the pre-draft process, don’t be surprised if he hears his name called much earlier than expected on draft night.
