BREAKING: Kentucky signee Malachi Moreno has been named a 2025 McDonald’s All-American…
In a significant achievement for the University of Kentucky’s basketball program, 6-foot-11 center Malachi Moreno has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game. Moreno, a Georgetown, Kentucky native and standout at Great Crossing High School, will represent the Wildcats on the East roster in the upcoming showcase.
Ranked among the top three centers in the 2025 class by major recruiting services, Moreno has been a dominant force on the court. During his junior year, he averaged 16 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game, leading Great Crossing to its first-ever appearance in the Sweet 16 of the KHSAA state tournament.
Moreno’s selection underscores his versatility and skill set, which have been pivotal in his high school team’s success. His commitment to the University of Kentucky, announced in August 2024, was a significant recruiting win for head coach Mark Pope. Moreno cited Pope’s playing style and the program’s legacy of developing big men as key factors in his decision.
The McDonald’s All-American Game, scheduled for later this year, will feature the nation’s top high school basketball talents. Moreno’s inclusion not only highlights his individual accomplishments but also reflects the strength of Kentucky’s recruiting efforts and the bright future of its basketball program.
In addition to Moreno, Kentucky’s women’s basketball commit, five-star forward Kaelyn Carroll, has also been named to the East roster for the girls’ McDonald’s All-American Game, further showcasing the university’s strong recruiting class for 2025.
