BREAKING: Miami Dolphins are hiring Robert Prince as their WRs coach, replacing Wes Welker…

In a significant coaching move, the Miami Dolphins have appointed Robert Prince as their new wide receivers coach, succeeding Wes Welker, who was dismissed earlier this month. Head Coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the necessity for change, stating, “As I have evaluated the season and areas where we must improve, I believe that change is needed and am motivated to do what is best for the team as we move forward.”

Robert Prince brings a wealth of experience to the Dolphins, having previously served as the wide receivers coach for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022. His extensive coaching career includes roles with the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, and Seattle Seahawks, among others. Notably, during his tenure with the Detroit Lions, Prince was instrumental in developing a receiving corps that featured five players with at least 50 receptions in a single season, a franchise first.

The departure of Wes Welker, a former All-Pro receiver who joined the Dolphins’ coaching staff in 2022, marks a pivotal shift in the team’s offensive coaching strategy. Under Welker’s guidance, the Dolphins’ passing offense was a top-five unit in 2022 and 2023, with wide receiver Tyreek Hill earning first-team All-Pro honors in both seasons. However, the offense experienced a decline in 2024, dropping to 15th in the league.

As the Dolphins prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Prince aims to revitalize the team’s receiving unit and overall offensive performance. His proven track record and diverse coaching background are expected to bring fresh perspectives and strategies to Miami’s offense.
