Edmonton Oilers Claim Alec Regula off Waivers from Boston Bruins

The Edmonton Oilers have bolstered their defensive depth by claiming defenseman Alec Regula off waivers from the Boston Bruins. Regula, 23, a 6-foot-4 right-handed defenseman, was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round (67th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft.

Regula has spent most of his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL), playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he earned recognition for his strong two-way play and physicality. He made his NHL debut last season with the Bruins, where he saw limited action but showed potential in his brief appearances. Known for his size and defensive awareness, Regula is expected to provide depth and add a physical presence to the Oilers’ blue line, as they continue their push for playoff contention in the Western Conference.

With the Oilers looking to shore up their defense and add more competition for roster spots, Regula’s acquisition could prove to be a valuable move. His ability to play both sides of the defense and contribute in different situations could make him a versatile asset for head coach Jay Woodcroft.

This move adds another promising young player to Edmonton’s defensive ranks, further solidifying their overall depth.
